Position Purpose
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to youth and young adults served through Fraser’s Youth & Young Adult Services. DSPs work across multiple program sites – including residential settings and the Stepping Stones Resource Center (SSRC) – to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment that promotes stability, life skills development, and overall well-being. Staff are cross-trained and rotate between service locations to meet program needs.
Direct Support Professional – Responsibilities may include:
  • Provide day-to-day support and supervision to youth and young adults while modeling positive behavior, healthy boundaries, and respectful peer interactions.
  • Support participants in developing independent living and life skills through hands-on guidance and engagement.
  • Assist with meal preparation and provide opportunities for participants to build cooking and kitchen safety skills.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment in both residential and drop-in service settings.
  • Observe participant needs and concerns and make appropriate referrals to Case Managers for formal assessments, case planning, and ongoing support.
  • Accurately complete required documentation, including daily census counts, program logs, donation and supply tracking, kitchen documentation, and cleaning records.
  • Participate in administrative, supervisory, and program planning meetings and required trainings.
